Official opening of a Franco-Japanese magnetic fusion laboratory in Marseilles

A partnership agreement has been signed by the University of Provence, the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research) and the Japanese Universities of Kyushu and Osaka, to partner together in founding a new international lab, the “France Japan Magnetic Fusion Laboratory”. This new research centre, based at Marseilles’ Saint-Jérôme campus, was opened on 13th May with Kaname Ikeda, ITER Director General in attendance. The aim is to promote and develop research programmes, in particular “on turbulent transport modelling and simulation in ITER plasma”. The laboratory will also be a facility for training up new researchers for the ITER project.

Capsim wins ITER contract

Capsim is a company based in Meyrargues, Bouches-du-Rhône, which specialises in developing digital simulation tools for anticipating the risks inherent in complex systems engineering processes. It has just been offered a contract with ITER to provide assistance and consultancy services in the design of the pulsed power electrical distribution system.
