culture and tourism
Every year more than 35 million tourists come to experience for themselves the charms of our region, with its Mediterranean climate and varying landscapes. Enjoy the sea and the hills, the lavender fields and palm trees, the chirping cicadas and the babbling fountains, the shade of the trees around village squares and the bustle of traditional markets.
transport links
The region has a first-class transport infrastructure, with the 2 largest airports in France outside Paris (Nice Côte d'Azur and Marseille-Provence), a high-speed rail link connecting Marseille with Paris in 3 hours, the Med's largest seaport at Marseille-Fos and the most highly-developed road and motorway network in France.
economy
Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur is three world-famous regions that have come together to form a single unified economic body on the European stage. The region's unsurpassed geographical position and its historic international links, going back even to ancient times, form a bedrock for its growing influence within the ever-expanding Euro-Mediterranean area
international school large-load transport corridor
The Regional government is investing in 2 major infrastructure projects to support the ITER project at Cadarache. An international school will be built, and a special large-load road corridor is to be constructed to transport ITER components from the seaport at Fos-sur-Mer to the Cadarache site.
